Local All Year Round Dog Friendly Beaches

There is no denying that Cornwall is spoilt for choice when it comes to stunning beaches. But what not everyone knows is that many of these jewels of the south west are dog-friendly all year round and not just out of season. And so here is our choice of beaches here on our doorstep that can be enjoyed by dogs and their owners any day of the year.

Long Rock Beach

This huge expanse of golden sand is hugely popular with dogs and humans alike. It’s vast length means there is plenty of space for everyone to enjoy a run around. What is particularly special here is the far-reaching views, which includes the iconic St Michael’s Mount. The shallow and calm waters also make it a great spot for a gentle swim or paddle.

Porthkidney Beach

Located at the mouth of the Hayle estuary, this secluded beach has a lot to offer. It is the perfect place for a leisurely walk, as you take in the breathtaking estuary views. The sand dunes and caves are a treat for doggy explorers, and the crystal waters are ideal for a fun splash around.

Hayle Towans/Mexico Towans

Gwithian beach with sand and sea and Godrevy lighthouse in the background

Over 3 miles of glorious sand with countless dunes and rock pools, there is plenty of space to run free and explore. At low tide all of the Hayle beaches become one, and so it is rarely crowded. There are multiple access points, and various amenities. The popular Cove Cafe near Riviere Towans is dog friendly, as is the Godrevy Beach Cafe in the National Trust car park at Godrevy. Note that in July and August there are dog restrictions at either ends of this long stretch, at Hayle and Gwithian, but in between these two areas it is free reign all year round!

If your visiting us out of season then you have even more choice as most beaches in Cornwall are dog friendly all year round other than July and August between 10 am and 6 pm. Blue flag beaches are usually restricted between May and the end of September. It’s worth checking on the council’s website before visiting to be sure.
