Eco Friendly Cottages – Self Catering Without The Compromise

At The Woodland Collection, we are committed to supporting our local community and reducing our environmental impact. Here are some of the ways we are achieving this:

Solar Array

We have recently installed a new 22.54KW solar array to reduce our reliance on traditional energy sources. This helps us to reduce our carbon footprint and contributes to the fight against climate change.

Green Tourism Award

We are delighted to hold the Gold Award from Green Tourism for our work on the farm and in our local community to help our planet.  We continuously strive to improve our green credentials to ensure we set the industry’s highest standards in Green tourism for our eco friendly cottages.

Apple Trees

To complement our existing apple trees, we have planted 20 locally sourced Cornish varieties. These trees not only provide delicious fruit but also contribute to the biodiversity of the area.

EV Charger

To support and encourage the growth of electric vehicle ownership we have installed a 7kW Rolec EV charger with a QR code for the Monta app. This means visitors using fully electric or plugin hybrid cars can be confident they’ll have somewhere to top up on arrival.

Organic Produce

We are proud to grow our own organic vegetables and herbs for use in The Cafe Bistro. Most of the produce we use is grown within a 10-mile radius, ensuring that the dishes are fresh and we support local farmers like our farming neighbours the Rodda family, who grow all the strawberries we use for our jam in the cream teas that we provide guests on arrival,  Trevaskis Farm, who supply all the meat to the bistro, and The Farm Shop in Leedstown, who provide the milk and cream for our delicious Cornish cream teas.

Eco Cottages in Cornwall

In partnership with TEVI and The Cornwall Wildlife Trust, we have installed a new hardcore pathway to make our ponds and woods more accessible for wheelchairs and pushchairs. We also open our wildflower meadows and woods to the public on Charity days to support our local communities.

This year, our chosen charities are Cornwall Heritage Trust, Cornwall Wildlife Trust, DogLost Cornwall and Last Chance Hotel.

We are proud to recycle 95% of the rubbish from both the cottages and the restaurant. We are committed to reducing our waste and reusing materials where possible.

We encourage guests to bring their bikes when staying with us to travel around in a more sustainable way. This allows you to enjoy our stunning countryside at a more leisurely pace as well as enjoy some fabulous traffic-free trails.

Buying Local

We encourage our guests to buy their groceries locally from The Farm Shop in Leedstown near us. The produce is grown and produced locally and is fresher and cheaper than supermarket alternatives. By supporting local businesses, we can help to sustain our community and reduce our carbon footprint.
