Spring newsletter and short break offers
Spring Newsletter April 2022
Springtime on the farm at The Woodland Collection is such a wonderful season with the vanilla-scented yellow gorse mingling with the white froth of the Sloe trees (the berries in September are great for making Sloe Gin) with a haze of bluebells underfoot in the woods until late May.
This Winter, Cornish pixies and fairies have moved into tiny houses down in our woods and it was a joy to see guests discovering the new fairy glade when they walked their dogs in February.
The field of daffodils in front of the cottages came into flower in March, and their delicate sweet scent permeates the frosty air in the mornings and evenings here. We have had glorious blue skies and seas for the last few weeks with just 6% of the average rainfall we would expect at this time of year, but the North wind has been cold. The South Coast beaches of Porthleven, Praa Sands, Perranuthnoe and the long 3 mile stretch of beach from Marazion to Penzance are more sheltered than Hayle, St Ives and Gwithian at this time of year.
We were closed for most of January to completely redecorate the cottages to keep them feeling fresh and new for our guests who are due to stay this year.
We are almost fully booked until September, apart from the dates below. If you would like to book, please do get in contact or book via the website at www.woodland-collection.co.uk

We are busy planting 30 acres of wild flowers in the meadows in front of the cottages and down to the woods, which will look stunning this Summer and Autumn. It will be an oasis of nectar for the four new beehives that will be arriving in a couple of weeks time.
We are delighted to welcome multi award-winning Chef Ben Prior to the garden Bistro. Ben is highly rated by food critic Jay Rayner and ran a Michelin rated restaurant Ben’s Cornish Kitchen in Marazion and Porthminster Kitchen in St Ives, before joining us this Winter. We are very excited to work with Ben, who will be serving delicious breakfasts, lunches and dinners at the bistro, which now has a wine bar too. Ben also imports wine from South Africa and is planning on planting a vineyard here this Autumn.
We are currently redesigning the inside of the bistro to make it more comfortable for diners and taking out the cookery school, which may reappear next year in a new building.
We are taking bookings for weddings and Special parties for 2023 and 2024 too, so if you know anyone who is planning something special, do please let in touch with Helen.
