Nestled in 36 acres of farmland and woods, The Woodland Collection offers superb facilities for guests and their four legged friends!  Situated in South West Cornwall, on a peninsula between the North and South Coast, dogs have plenty of space and can enjoy walking on beaches with golden sands, the woods locally at Godolphin Estate, the South West Coastal footpath or just meander around the farm.

We understand that for those of you with dogs it can be hard leaving them to go away on holiday, which is why more and more people are choosing to bring them too! So, we’ve put together some tips to look out for when booking a holiday for you and your dog.

1.) Check how dog friendly a place may be; just because it allows dogs, doesn’t mean it’s necessarily user friendly from a guest’s point of view

  • Is there an enclosed garden or open area to allow your dog to go outside or go for a little walk in the morning or evenings before / after your day’s adventure?
  • Does the accommodation provide any amenities for dogs? Outdoor showers are great to wash any sand or mud off after your walk, before going inside.  Especially warm ones!
  • Clean bedding/blankets, food and water bowls? If space in the car is tight with all your cases, transporting your dog’s things too, can be awkward.  Some accommodation providers offer help on request, for no extra cost!

2.)  Before you book, check how close your accommodation is to the nearest dog friendly beach. During the summer months there are restrictions on some beaches so you may find that although there are stunning beaches close by, they’re not dog friendly.  Cornwall Council has a list of beaches on their website below, including dates of restrictions. Porthkidney beach, Long Rock beach and The Towans beach at Hayle are dog friendly all year round near us.

Most cafes are dog friendly in our area, but it’s worth checking if you are planning to book somewhere else.  Have a great stay in Cornwall with the four-legged members of your family too!
