Dog friendly beach cafes in Cornwall

There’s nothing quite like collapsing into a comfy seat at a warm cafe after a wet and windy walk along the beach. The colder you are, the better the coffee tastes. You can sit and enjoy the view out of the window and you don’t have to worry about the sand you and your dog have brought into the cafe as the floor is already covered.

Here are some of our favourite beach cafes, within a short drive of the Woodland Collection, that are welcoming for dogs and owners alike.

The Cabin Beach Cafe – Perranuthnoe

Up on the cliff above Perranuthnoe Beach, The Cabin has a stunning panoramic view of the sea, the beach and the surrounding headland. The cafe is simple but warm and inviting. A wide range of drinks and hot food make this an excellent spot for lunch after a morning walk.

Food Options: A range of light bits, sandwiches and hot food.

Distance from Woodland Collection: 10 minutes drive.

Price: Low – Medium.

The Welloe – Praa Sands

Popular beach cafe by day and bar by night. The Welloe sits on Praa Sands beach, where there is plenty of inside and outside seating and views across the beach. The beach and cafe are open to dogs year-round.

Food Options: Burgers, Pizza and Seafood.

Distance from Woodland Collection: 15 minutes drive.

Price: Medium.

Godolphin Arms – Marazion

A view across the bay from Marazion to st. Michael's Mount with the causeway covered by the incoming tide

The Godolphin is more of a restaurant, but we had to include it in this list due to the stunning views directly across the causeway to St. Michael’s Mount. The Godolphin is cosy and welcoming with plenty of outside seating for the summer and you and your dog can still nip in for a coffee and cake.

Food Options: Classic Cornish dishes, seafood and burgers.

Distance from Woodland Collection: 12 minutes drive.

Price: High

Sunset Surf Café – Gwithian

Gwithian is part of the three miles of golden sands along St. Ives Bay. Perfect for surfers and dog walkers, the beach is very exposed, which makes a stop at the Sunset Surf Cafe that much more needed. The laid-back cafe has great views across the bay.

Food Options: A simple menu with light bites and a mix of classic comfort food.

Distance from Woodland Collection: 20 minutes drive.

Price: Low – Medium.

Birdies Bistro – Hayle

Birdies isn’t your traditional beach cafe as it’s a half-hour walk from the start of Porth Kidney Beach. It is however situated right next to the Hayle estuary where you can enjoy the great views and watch the birds and wildlife and the tide come and go. Birdies is just off the A30 between Hayle and St Ives, making it the perfect dog friendly stop on the drive home from St. Ives.

Food Options: Specialising in classic English dishes, burgers and seafood

Distance from Woodland Collection: 12 minutes drive.

Price: Medium – High
