The Cornish Seal sanctuary at Gweek, is the local seal ‘hospital’ for injured or sick seals and pups. The Sanctuary is set in the picturesque Helford Estuary, by the beautiful village of Gweek and has beautiful views over the Helford River. The sanctuary and has over 60 years experience in Seal Rescue, Rehab, and Release back into the wild with some Seals staying for just a few months while others are permanent residents being unable to survive in the wild. It’s a lovely experience seeing and learning about the individual Seal’s stories as they progress through the stages of recovery before being released back into the wind.
There is more to do on-site as well with farm animals, Puffins and even Beavers. There is a children’s play area and multiple places to get food and drinks. Tickets are valid for free returns for a whole year so if you go early during your holiday you can always pop back if you run out of places to visit.
Dogs are welcome on leads with a few exclusions in the Seal Hospital and inside seating at the cafe.
It’s worth a visit to see what they do, and its only 12 miles away from the Woodland Collection.
